About Dr. Zaver

A Houston native, Sarah Zaver, OD, FAAO, is committed to providing the best eye care possible and getting to know her patients as individuals. As a doctor of optometry at Frame & Focus Eye Care in Richmond, Texas, Dr. Zaver offers patients of all ages the highest standard of eye care in a warm, welcoming environment.

Dr. Zaver’s career path as an optometrist began when she was an undergraduate at the University of Houston. While working toward her Bachelor of Science in biology, with a minor in psychology, Dr. Zaver also worked for a group of optometrists. The doctors inspired her to become an optometrist, and she went on to earn her doctorate at the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2014. Two years later, Dr. Zaver earned the honor of becoming a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

In her last year of studies, Dr. Zaver participated in an externship at La Nueva Casa De Amigos Eye Clinic at the University of Houston College of Optometry. There, as part of the Mobile Eye Institute, she performed eye exams in Spanish to serve the underprivileged Houston community.

Dr. Zaver completed her second externship at the South Texas Veterans Affairs Hospital in San Antonio, where she worked alongside other optometrists in the polytrauma rehabilitation unit. The doctors provided comprehensive eye care to veterans and specialty eye care for those who had traumatic and acquired brain injuries. Dr. Zaver’s experiences there led her to pursue a residency that focused on brain injury and vision rehabilitation.

As a resident, Dr. Zaver had the opportunity to provide bedside eye care to patients at the TIRR Memorial Hermann and Houston Methodist hospitals. She worked closely with many highly skilled optometrists, ophthalmologists, neurologists, and therapists. It was also during this time that Dr. Zaver developed a passion for pediatric optometry.

When not providing personalized eye care for families in Richmond, Texas, and the surrounding communities, Dr. Zaver enjoys traveling, working out, and spending time with family and friends.
